Teaching crafts to six year olds ...

Cleaning up after 20 six year old kids bites big time. I have 5 minutes of prep time in between class sessions so I like to keep messes to a minimum or at least come up with an easy way for the kids to help with clean up. Today I was literally patting myself on the back for coming up with the brilliant idea to do a paper cut out project on the grass.

Instead of doing the project in my carpeted classroom, the kids could spread out and do the craft in peace ... letting all of the little baby paper cut outs fall between the blades of grass. As I explained to the kids ...

Paper comes from trees ...
and the blades of grass are like little mini trees.

The paper pieces (all ten million of them) will become a natural fertilizer for the mini trees.
We are being eco-friendly !!!
What a good class we are !!!
Everything was perfect ...

UNTIL ...

The sprinklers came on.
